About Me

I am an associate professor of philosophy at Vanderbilt University. I specialize in nineteenth- and twentieth-century European philosophy, focusing in particular on Hegel, German idealism, Marx, and Frankfurt School Critical Theory. I also have interests in Kant, modern European philosophy, social and political philosophy, and feminist philosophy.

My book, Hegel’s Concept of Life: Self-Consciousness, Freedom, Logic is published with Oxford University Press (2020). It received the Journal of the History of Philosophy Book Prize in 2021.
